Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s Sixth Annual
Optimizing Biologics Formulation Development
PepTalk: The Protein Science Week
January 13-19, 2014
The sixth annual Optimizing Biologics Formulation Development will focus on how the formulation function is responding to the challenges of new product formats, increased regulatory scrutiny and early developability screening of product candidates based on stability and other formulation characteristics. Join your colleagues from around the world in this popular annual discussion of the key challenges and solutions in biologics formulation development, with an emphasis on case studies and lessons learned.
This annual forum kicks off the weeklong PepTalk Formulation and Stability Stream, which also includes separate meetings on Lyophilization and Emerging Drying Technologies and Protein Aggregation and Emerging Analytical Tools. By attending, you may also participate in the full set of seven PepTalk streams, including the new Antibody Optimization and Development and Manufacturing and Facilities.
We invite presentation proposals on the following preliminary topics:
- Case studies of problem solving in formulation development projects
- Development and application of novel buffers and excipients
- Emerging and novel analytical methods for preformulation studies
- Evaluation and manipulation of serum stability of formulations
- Higher throughput formulation and experimental design in biologics development
- Implementing FMEA and risk analysis in early formulation development
- Latest advances in predictive stability, protein modeling, and computer-aided methods and tools
- Navigating formulation patents and comparability issues in biosimilar development
- Optimization of formulation process and of the biologic molecule for better developability
- Peptide mapping for accelerated stability testing
- Potential impact of formulations on the immunogenicity of biologics
- Practical formulation challenges of high-concentration proteins in early stage development
- Process and material compatibility studies
- Special considerations regarding formulation of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and multispecific antibodies
- Visual inspection standards and applications

Deadline for submission: June 7, 2013
All proposals are subject to review by the Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure the overall quality of the conference program. Please note that due to limited speaking slots, preference will be given to abstracts from those within pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, regulators and those from academic centers. Additionally, as per CHI policy, a select number of vendors/consultants who provide products and services to these biopharmaceutical companies are offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.
